Now is the Time to Get Organized | Change is Good

Fall Leaves mean Change
Change is Good

It’s September and Now is the Time to Get Organized because Change is Good!  There is no “perfect” time to do anything. And the truth of the matter is that something will always come up and excuses can be made every day. The choice is up to you!

What do I Organize First? I recently read an article by Gretchen Rubin, Author of the Happiness Project, where she talks about “First things First”! This is a great thought process when you are overwhelmed with the amount of rooms, space and “things” that need to be organized.  Check out Gretchen’s article on the link above and let me know what you think.

Now is the Time Too Get Organized because, as my friend, Lee Donald (Owner of MobilLogic) has told me, September is the second “New Year” of the physical year. We have just finished summer, school is back in session, life is changing, new habits are being created and we have goals that we want to reach before the end of the year. Is it time to change?

What excites you about change? I love the change of seasons. I can’t wait for the leaves to start turning color and falling off the trees. After living in the woods for 22 years, I have realized that I will always have leaves on the ground beginning mid-October through spring. So, I don’t even worry about trying to keep them raked! I just enjoy the colors on the ground.

Change is Good!  I know that I preach and teach about consistency. Having habits, systems and processes that we use in our everyday life and business is really important. However, sometimes Change is Good! It is just that…Change is Hard!

I have had a lot of things change in my life in September. The biggest one being that my little girl started Kindergarten. I didn’t think that it was such a big deal at first; but, now that it has started I have realized that it adds just a few additional things into my day. There is the packing of lunch and snack, checking the backpack for notes, additional school activities, etc.

To keep from being overwhelmed with change, I have already spent just a few minutes making a note in my calendar of all of the school activities, early closings, etc. for the entire school year. Working from one calendar will allow me to make sure that I manage my calendar and keep a family/life balance – especially during the holiday season.

Don’t let the holidays creep up on you because Christmas is only 117 days away! And, don’t forget Halloween and Thanksgiving too. Start organizing just a small area at a time and be prepared to enjoy life, family and friends.

Life doesn’t slow down and there are still only 24 hours in a day. Make the most of every minute by developing systems to keep yourself, your family and/or your business organized; don’t get caught up in drama (it isn’t healthy) and celebrate all of your accomplishments. I promise you will find a new appreciation for life.
